What types of therapy do you offer?
I offer Personal Counselling for Mental health that includes counselling for Anxiety, Stress Management, Depression, PTSD, Panic disorder, Fears, Procarstination, being stuck in comfort zone , screen addiction and many more,
Career Guidance that I offer is based on Scientific analysis of the student’s personality. Interest and abilities derived from Psychometric assessment using standardised tools.
I also offer Couples Counselling that is based on the Developmental model of couples therapy and Positive Therapy,
How do I choose the right therapist for me?
The most important aspect that you need to check for in a therapist is how comfortable you feel talking to them. A therapist needs to be empathetic, non- judgemental, make you feel safe in relating your story and the approach should make you feel that you have control over your own healing.
What should I bring to my first therapy session?
Just the willingness to get help and support.
Can therapy help with anxiety and depression?
Anxiety and depression are two of the most common issues people face. Many other issues are also a result of anxiety. Therapy directly targets the anxiety people experience and counselling is the only way to actually overcome anxiety and to learn skills to deal with it effectively. The client may also require medication in case of acute depression but for long term management and cure Counselling is essential.
What if I feel uncomfortable during therapy?
If you feel uncomfortable talking about something you can tell your therapist that you do not wish to talk about it right now and your therapist will understand and move on. But will likely come back to it when you are ready.
If you are uncomfortable talking to the therapist then she may not be right for you.
How do I know if therapy is working for me?
You will see change in your mood, shift in your perspective and a general sense of calmness and control over your own life.
What is the difference between individual therapy and group therapy?
Individual therapy is done one on one. While in Group therapy people facing similar issues are counselled in a group. A Group therapy makes use of experiences and shares of others in the group as a therapeutic tool. Some issues and people will benefit more from individual therapy and for some group therapy may be ideal.
Can therapy help with relationship issues or family conflicts?
Relationship issues always form part of the problems that people face. Personal issues will spill over into relationships and relationship issues will also affect you individually. Family conflicts are also always there in the mix. Therapy can help with both these problems but the parties need to be willing to take help.
What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
You can call or drop a message at least a day in advance unless there is an emergency.
How do I prepare for a therapy session?
No preparation is needed for a therapy session.
What are your qualifications and areas of expertise?
I am post graduate in applied Psychology from Mumbai University and have trained in Counselling techniques like REBT, Gestalt, Karkhoff and developmental model of couples therapy. I am well versed and trained in use of Psychometric tools for diagnosis and assessment of mental processes. I provide expert counselling in the areas of Mental Health, Career Guidance and Couples Therapy.
Can I switch therapists if I feel it's not a good fit?
Yes always. Its always your prerogative to decide which counsellor you want to consult but make sure if you are switching from one to the other, its for the right reason. Do not window shop for therapists because it will be detrimental to your healing and progress.
What should I do between therapy sessions to make progress?
Please follow the advise of the therapist and practice what has been discussed and asked of you. Complete the homework given to you.
